could be related to the Poe family through marriage, yet no records have surfaced showing this connection, claimed by Miles researchers

NOTE: The index states that John Poe is mentioned in the will of John Miles but the actual abstract does not include John Poe. Other researchers state that John Poe was son-in-law of John Miles --- but what is the evidence?

August 1774--Winefred MILES, widow of Thomas MILES,

dec 8217;d, summoned by the Sheriff to shew cause why

administration on the estate should not be granted to John

NALL

 

November 1774--that Jesse MILES and John MILES, orphans of

Thomas MILES, dec 8217;d be bound to Charles MILES until

lawful age to learn the trade of planters.  Jesse MILES

being now 4 years old and John MILES being 3 years old.

 

November 1774--Administration on the estate of Thomas MILES,

dec 8217;d granted to John Naull, he having given bond with

William Alston in the sum of 40 pounds

 

November Term 1774--William and Charles MILES part of a road

commission to maintain a road from the fork of Brooks Road

to Deep River under Daniel Brown, overseer.

 

February Term 1775--Inventory of the estate of Thomas MILES,

dec 8217;d returned by John NALL, administrator.

Joshua Skinner

b. 24 Jul 1724, d. 30 Nov 1777

     Joshua Skinner was born on 24 July 1724 at Berkeley Prec., North Carolina. He was the son of Richard Skinner and Sarah Creecy. Joshua Skinner married Sarah Wingate Creecy, daughter of Levi Creecy, on 22 January 1745 at Berkeley, North Carolina. Joshua Skinner died on 30 November 1777 at Perquimans Cnty., North Carolina, at age 53. He was buried at Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Berkeley, North Carolina.      Joshua was reared a Quaker - Sarah a Methodist; sometime after their marriage they "compromised" by becoming Baptists.
