Poe said that it was near the end of the war and that they were almost dead from starvation and that the "Yankee's" took them out to the corral and told them to run for it. They told them that everyone who got away was free. They then stampeded the horses and he died in the corral. NOTE: James R. Poe was the son of James Poe and Mary McMillan (McMillion)
