Also, I've attached a photo of the Poe Tavern as it appeared during Hasten Poe's days, a photo of John and Sara, and a photo of (L to R) Coke, Porter and Myrtle Poe.. William Poe wrote: http://poefamilyresearch.net/TN/PoeSamuel1750.htm I move the page to be with other Tennessee records. Got the new dates. Peter said on the back of the image of John Hill Poe and Sara the death date of 1933 appears and that he thought it was 1930. The note looks like one written for her obituary and this photo was to be used. Do you have other evidence showing which is truly correct 1930 or 1933? -----Original Message----- From: Coke Poe Sent: Jan 24, 2006 7:22 AM To: William Poe Subject: Re: Picture of John Hill and Sara Louise Poe Hi William, The Hasten Poe lineage looks good with the exception of John Hill and Sara's dates. John Hill was born Oct 24, 1849 and died Dec 11, 1927 and Sara Louise was born May 9, 1854 and died Apr 5, 1930. Your website looks great. Keep up the good work! Coke Poe William Poe wrote: http://poefamilyresearch.net/VA/PoeSamuel1750.htm I'm starting to put together the data and images that people have sent me. Can you help review this page for anything I have incorrect? Some curious bits --- the earliest names of Poe in Amelia / Prince Edward County, VA are Robert Poe and Samuel Poe where arrived by 1750. By 1764 we see a John Poe in the area. But this may be a Pew and not a Poe (could be true of some others also) We start seeing another Samuel Poe b. c. 1730 who was a bone fide English shoemaker who ended up with land in nearby Campbell County. I am interested that some of these Poe went to northern Alabama. I suspect the de kalb County, AL Poe may be of this group. Research continues.
