I am printing it out and as soon as I get a chance to will update what I already have. I knew that I could not find a connection yet to anyone in the book and I went through the whole book. I am attaching a picture of the younger Hasten, as there were 2 - this is the one who owned the tavern that was Hamilton Co, Tn first courthouse. I am about to go out of town to teach, but please send anything else you might think would help, if you have it and I will get it when I return. I will be glad to share any pictures that I have as I have copied all of their for them and reprinted them in 8 x 10's for them. I have several of both Hasten's. I did have the picture of the older Hasten that you sent, but your copy is better than mine, so I saved it to reprint it. I have one of the younger Hasten and his wife together in beautiful chairs and one of them outside their house with their children. If you would like to have any of these, let me know and I will email them to you. We have been in touch with Coke Poe. He had send my cousin's husband, Hamilton Luther Poe, a number of articles. I have already gone through them and posted anything that looked promising. Thanks again and will be in touch. They come from the Amelia / Prince Edward County, VA area. A Robert Poe and Samuel Poe settled there in 1749 and established planations. The Haston you mention is from there. I have no clue whatsover where this group came from. There is no trace of a connection to the Essex County / Caroline Co group that I belong to. > > Coke Poe is a member of the DNA project. He descends from Hasten Poe. His DNA is not a match to any other Poe. That really surprised me --- there could be a break in the male line, but it does not seem that way. Look over this page. I am a cousin (not a Poe) to a Poe's wife - so I am on the other side. But they don't have a clue as to how to do genealogy and don't want to learn - they just want the information. None of their Poe people are in the book - we have a photocopy of the book and have ordered a used copy of the book itself. It is really unorganized and skips about alot. I tried to pick things that were probably really factual, like where they were buried, children, etc. (I have delt with book mistakes before) None of the pages that I put post-em's on, are on my tree as I have not yet made the link between the two. I have done a good bit on their side as there was none, but still so far to go. Over all the years, they have saved pictures, articles, documents, etc so they have a good bit to look at, yet not many dates, or names outside their families several generations. They live near Chattanooga, a historical area in itself. Their oldest relative (maybe a generation or two past him), I believe is Hasten Poe, who's house (log) became the first courthouse of Hamilton Co, Tn - it was called Poe's Tavern - so it may have been used for another purpose as well when they met - ha, ha. They have pictures of Hasten and the Poe Tavern, even the axe head that prepared the logs to build the house. Also they have many old Civil War photos of Poe's, but no names on them - which is a shame. If you would like to get in touch with them, let me know. There is a Dr.s wife in Virginia, Jeanne, that is also working on this same family. She has gotten copies of many documents and is very excited and charged up about finding "them all". Thanks for writing back.
